Mintz Levin’s Raymond D. Cotton to Speak at NAICU Annual Meeting

Raymond D. Cotton, Vice President of Higher Education of ML Strategies, LLC and a Member of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo, P.C. , will be speaking about presidential compensation at the annual meeting of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). The annual meeting is being held January 29 – February 3 in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Cotton’s presentation is entitled “Presidential Compensation in 2012: Improving Your Contract.” He will focus specifically on issues such as setting the president's salary, performance bonuses, deferred compensation, spousal compensation, and post-presidential employment. Mr. Cotton’s presentation will take place on Tuesday, January 31.

In addition to Mr. Cotton’s presentation, the NAICU 2012 annual meeting entitled, “Addressing the Issues Ahead”, will include presentations on education reform, the major economic and demographic forces impacting private colleges and universities and higher education costs, among other topics.

Mr. Cotton represents higher education and other non-profit executives and boards of trustees. His clients include colleges, universities, associations, and other non-profits. He has represented over 250 university boards of trustees, college presidents, and other non-profit executives during his more than 25 years in practice. He frequently counsels both boards of trustees and presidents on such matters as contracts, executive compensation, performance evaluation, goal-setting, current and deferred compensation, Intermediate Sanctions, Sarbanes-Oxley, and best practices for managing non-profit institutions.

Mr. Cotton is a frequent speaker on the programs of higher education associations. He is also a regular contributor to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
